Literature Text

Elizabeth was of a calmer and more concentrated disposition; but, with all my ardour, I was capable of a more intense application and was more deeply smitten with the thirst for knowledge.

Our circle will be small but bound close by the ties of affection and mutual misfortune.

I knew that I was preparing for myself a deadly torture, but I was the slave, not the master, of an impulse which I detested yet could not disobey.

The triumph of my enemy increased with the difficulty of my labours.

Elizabeth seemed happy; my tranquil demeanour contributed greatly to calm her mind.

I recollected my threat and resolved that it should be accomplished.

Shall I, in cool blood, set loose upon the earth a daemon whose delight is in death and wretchedness?

"Yes."

I love you very tenderly. Remember me with affection, should you never hear from me again.

Those were the last moments of my life during which I enjoyed the feeling of happiness.

She wept with me and for me.

This is really intriguing to use lines from a single source, a prose novel no less, to create a poem! You chose the lines really well too. My issue would be that the line "I recollected my threat and resolved that it should be accomplished." should go after the question and response and not before. Excellent poem overall.
